Tourism in India would not recover to pre-pandemic levels until 2026, according to a report by the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER). Similarly, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has predicted that international tourism will not entirely return until 2024.

The global COVID pandemic has wreaked havoc on the travel industry, with tourism taking the brunt of the damage. While the year 2021 finished on a positive note, with vaccination efforts taking place worldwide and people resuming their trip plans. Then came Omicron, a novel COVID strain that threw all of those preparations into disarray.
