Karnataka's Hoysala temples nominated as World Heritage Sites

The 'Sacred Ensembles of the Hoysala' have been on UNESCO's Tentative list since April 15, 2014, and they bear witness to this country's rich historical and cultural heritage.


The Hoysala temples of Belur, Halebid, and Somnathapura in Karnataka have been selected as India's World Heritage nomination for 2022-2023, according to the Union Culture Ministry.

The nomination of the Hoysala Temples was formally submitted to UNESCO Director of World Heritage Lazare Eloundou on Monday by India's Permanent Representative to UNESCO Vishal V Sharma.
