LA’s Lotus Festival celebrates India

The Lotus Festival originated in 1972, to celebrate the contributions of the Asian and Pacific Islander people to local and surrounding communities. It is named after the lotus flower as the flower is significant in most Asian cultures.

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was celebrated in Los Angeles over the weekend at the 41st Lotus Festival that took place at Echo park Lake, with India as the host country.

The Indian community showcased the rich and diverse culture of India through Yoga sessions, recital of ‘Veena’ (India stringed musical instrument), regional energetic dances including Bhangra ,ayurveda and food at the festival.
