Urvashi Vaid, a well-known attorney, LGBTQ+ activist (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer), and author died at the age of 63 at her New York City home after a courageous battle with cancer. The terrible news has created a dismal climate among those who follow her.

According to the National LGBTQ Task Force, which she led as executive director from the year 1989 to 1992, the Indian American was noted for her extended career as a champion for enormous social concerns like LGBTQ rights, women's rights, anti-war initiatives, immigration justice, and many others.
