The Durga Puja celebrated in Kolkata is placed on the Rep. List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO this week.
The decision to add Durga Puja to the list was made at the sixteenth session of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage's annual convention, which was conducted online from Dec. 13 to Dec. 18.
