Manoj Nelliyettu 'M. Night' Shyamalan, a Pondicherry-born Indian American Oscar nominee best known for his 1999 supernatural thriller 'The Sixth Sense,' will preside over the international jury at the 72nd Berlinale next year.

Carlo Chatrian, the creative director of the famous international film festival, made the announcement. Indian films have been chosen for screening at the Berlinale since 1956, but it wasn't until Satyajit Ray's 'Ashani Sanket' won the Golden Bear in 1973 that the literati took notice.
