Madras HC rules in favor of virtual wedding between Indian woman, US man

Justice G R Swaminathan upheld Right to Marry as a fundamental right and said individuals are free to choose any form of marriage according to the law.

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court (HC) passed a ruling in favor of a virtual wedding between an Indian bride and her groom, an Indian-origin United States citizen.

The decision comes after Vasmi Sudharshini P N, a resident of Kanyakumari filed a petition asking the court to order the marriage registrar to solemnize her online wedding to  Rahul L.Madhu, who is unable to come to India for the wedding due to visa issues.
