A statue of Mahatma Gandhi was vandalised at the Vishnu Mandir on Yonge Street and Garden Avenue in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, according to the York Regional Police. India expressed its extreme disappointment at the statue's vandalism in the aftermath of the incident.

Additionally, India called for an investigation into the destruction, which the police have stated is being looked into as a hate crime.
