The Maldives government is considering to enact laws that would criminalize the continuing 'India Out' campaign which was launched by the former President Abdullah Yameen.

This action was considered necessary because Maldivian officials believe the campaign poses a threat to national security and puts the lives of Indians (almost 29,000) and Maldivians (approximately 5,000) living in India in jeopardy.
