Professor Neena Gupta, a mathematician at the Indian Statistical Institute in West Bengal, has been awarded the prestigious '2021 DST-ICTP-IMU Ramanujan Prize for Young Mathematicians from Developing Countries' for her outstanding work in commutative algebra and affine algebraic geometry, according to the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Professor Gupta's work "shows impressive algebraic skill and inventiveness," according to the DST-ICTP-IMU Ramanujan Prize committee, which is made up of brilliant mathematicians from around the world.
