Netflix, an American streaming service, lost 200,000 global customers in the Jan. to March quarter due to a slow growth rate, increased competition, consumer account sharing, and the suspension of operations in Russia.

Countries like India, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand and Taiwan were witnessing growth but the number of paid subscribers fell from 2.6 million to 1.09 million a quarter-ago.
