The Rock garden was created by Nek Chand Saini, a self taught artist who aspired to assemble thousand of sculptures  in a forest on the outskirts of Chandigarh, India.  from trash collected in Indian household.

An artificial waterfall inside the Rock Garden is a soothing surprise. Surrounded by rocks, which are set in patterns by sensitive human hands, the waterfall not only gives a cooling effect but also shows how the accumulated rainwater with minimalist intervention to augment it can weave magic in natural surroundings.

The garden is entirely built out of industrial and home waste with discarded items. Sculptures are made using bottles, glasses, bangles, tiles, ceramic pots, sinks and electrical waste. The garden also has man-made interlinked waterfalls.
