An initiative by MEA to celebrate Azadi Mahotsav of India's 75th Independence Day to encourage social interaction with the diplomatic community.

Ministry of External Affairs cricket team posted emphatic victory over the Australian High Commission team during the inaugural match of Diplomatic Cup Cricket Tournament of T-20 format, played at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday.

Opening batsmen, Aditya Rattan's knock of 82 runs and Bassist Nandan's 22 gave a steady start and later supported by swashbuckling knock of 36 of 22 balls by Vaibhav Rana, MEA scored 230/6 in 20 overs. Australian High Commission team could not achieve 3 digits and crumpled at 79/8 in 20 overs to loose the match. Australian High Commissioner, Barry O Farrell, along with embassy staffs and their family members were present at the stadium to encourage their team.
