PM Modi flags off FIDE Chess Olympiad, hails sporting culture in India
The 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad will be held in Chennai from July 28 to Aug. 10, 2022

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday, inaugurated the 44th Chess Olympiad at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The Olympiad having over 2000 participants is being held for the first time in India, famously known as the birthplace of Chess.

Addressing the gathering, the PM welcomed the players from different countries and expressed happiness that this year’s Olympiad is special as it is coinciding with the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations along with setting its own records.
