The U.S. President Joe Biden has nominated leading climate change expert Jainey Bavishi to hold an important leadership post in his administration. The Indian American Bavishi has been nominated to serve as the assistant secretary at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the Department Of Commerce.

The NOAA’s many responsibilities include weather forecasting, ocean research, the protection of endangered marine species and the continued health of America’s fisheries. With the focus placed by the Biden administration on combating the perils of global warming, the NOAA will play a vital role in America’s policies on climate change.
