Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested authorities to evaluate proposals to loosen restrictions on foreign travel to and from India today, amid mounting worldwide worry about the spread of 'Omicron', the latest and perhaps most contagious COVID-19 form found so far.

Following a briefing on the new variation, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to closely monitor all foreign arrivals and conduct Covid tests, with a particular emphasis on individuals from countries listed as "at risk" by the Union Health Ministry.
