Chennupati Jagdish has been named as the next president of the Australian Academy of Science. 

Australian National University’s distinguished professor Chennupati Jagdish has been named as the next president of the Australian Academy of Science (AAS). The Academy is one of Australia’s foremost scientific organizations and provides pivotal advice to various organizations in order to build public awareness and understanding of science among people.

Chennupati Jagdish, a widely renowned physicist and nanotechnology expert will hold the position as president for four years. Born in a humble circumstance in Andhra Pradesh and was educated there. He grew up with his struggles of studying without having any access to electricity and attributed his accomplishment to his teachers and mentors. He said, "I have started my life in a small village and benefited from the generosity of my teacher's and many mentors."
