Dorje Angchuk, a Ladakh-based engineer, has become India’s first Honorary Member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) along with 10 others across the globe.

Born and raised in Ladakh, Dorje is an engineer by profession and is in charge of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics’ Indian Astronomical Observatory (IAO) in Hanle, Ladakh.
