Senators ask Biden administration to exempt India from CAATSA curb

The US levied sanctions on India for the purchase of Russian S-400 surface-to-air missile defence systems. While India has already paid for the five S-400, they are expected to be delivered by the end of this year.

US Senators Mark Warner and John Coryn urged Biden administration to Waive CAATSA Sanctions against India to buy arms from Russia.

The Democratic and Republican Senators also mentioned that the sanctions could give an impression that the US “will not be a consistent and reliable partner for cooperation.”
