Shivika’s game stuns Grandmaster RR Laxman

Among the 26 International Masters in the fray, L. R. Srihari was the only one to drop half a point. Woman Grandmaster V. Varshini and Woman International Master Parnali Dharia were among those who lost to lower-ranked rivals.

Delhi's 14-year-old Shivika Rohilla played an interesting game and beat Grandmaster RR Laxman in the first round of the 19th Delhi International Grandmasters Chess tournament.

Shivika had given her best and matched The Grandmaster move-for-move during the match. Laxman had enjoyed an advantage throughout the game with white pieces but Shivika was quick to pounce on an opportunity that took her toward the gates of victory.
