Steven Spielberg had introduced Aamir Khan as ‘James Cameron of India’ to Tom Hanks

Aamir was looking for Hanks and Spielberg as he wanted the remake rights to Forrest Gump, which had been refused for a long time by the original film's director Robert Zemeckis.

Aamir Khan during his effort to make the movie Laal Singh Chaddha met Steven Spielberg at the shoot of Bridge Of Spies which stars Tom Hanks. Laal Singh Chaddha is a remake of Forrest Gump — the iconic Hollywood movie that starred Tom Hanks.

Spielberg referred to Aamir as India's James Cameron when introducing him to Tom Hanks. After that, Hanks said that he already knows who Aamir Khan is and that he has seen Khan's film ‘3 Idiots’ thrice.
