Illinois is set to become the first state to ensure that schools teach their students the history of Asian Americans with the Illinois House passing the Teaching Equitable Asian American Community History (TEAACH) Act with a bipartisan vote of 108-10.

The Act comes at a time when Asian Americans – the fastest-growing major racial or ethnic group in the United States – have endured an increase in anti-Asian hate crimes amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
