Teej festival celebrated by Indian diaspora in Philadelphia, USA

Teej is celebrated during the months of Shravan and Bhadrapada on Hindu calendar. It is primarily dedicated to Goddess Parvati and her union with Lord Shiva and women often fasting during the festivities

Teej, one of the main festivals of the Hindu community was celebrated with a lot of pomp and circumstance for the first time at the Bharatiya Temple in Chalfont, Pennsylvania  by the Bharatiya Cultural Committee on Aug. 13, 2022.

The event was organized  in coordination with UPAGP (Uttar Pradesh Association of Greater Philadelphia) and PARAM (Philadelphia Rajasthani Mandal).

The festival was successfully organised by the joint efforts of Cultural Committee Chair Manisha Jain (UPAGP President) and other significant members of the temple including Bharatiya Temple President Nand Todi, Shashi Todi, Kusum Murarka, Ravi Murarka, Shakti Priyadarshini and Shweta Ajmera.
