While the majority of Australians struggled to spell 'diarrhea', as Google Trends data reveal, an 11-year-old Indian-origin student from Victoria went on to win the 2021 Prime Minister's National Spelling Bee.

Theekshitha Karthik, a Year 6 student at Haileybury College’s Berwick campus, is one of the three winners of the contest, which saw almost 21,000 young Australians cracking some of the toughest words in the English language.
