UK’s anthropologist denied entry in India, Shashi Tharoor asks for apology

UK’s Veteran anthropologist and sociologist Filippo Osella was not allowed to enter India after he landed at the Thiruvananthapuram airport early Thursday morning, and had to return to the Kingdom.

He was received by an immigration official on arrival and was later taken to the immigration desk. After a questioning session, he was deported from the country with no official statement or explanation.

Osella came on a valid research visa till April to present a three-day conclave in India on Kerala’s traditional fishing. His return was scheduled before the visa expiry date.
