UN rep in Bangladesh calls for protection to Hindus, probe into violence
Mia Seppo, The United Nations’ Bangladesh coordinator

The United Nations’ Bangladesh coordinator Mia Seppo has demanded protection of the Hindu community and an impartial probe into the widespread attacks on the community’s places of worship during the 10-day Durga Puja festival.

In a tweet, Seppo said: “Recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh fueled by hate speech on social media are against the values of the Constitution and need to stop. We call upon government to ensure protection of minorities and an impartial probe. We call upon all to join hands to strengthen an inclusive, tolerant Bangladesh.”
