UNESCO to publish Hindi description of Indian world heritage sites on WHC website

Since 2006 Jan. 10 is observed as World Hindi Day to promote the use of language on a global scale.

On the occasion of World Hindi Day, Jan 10, the permanent delegation of India to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced that UNESCO will publish descriptions of Indian sites on the World Heritage  (WHC) website in Hindi.

“The Permanent Delegation of India is very pleased to announce that on the occasion of World Hindi Day, the Director of the World Heritage Centre has informed us that UNESCO’s World Heritage Centre has agreed to publish Hindi descriptions of India’s UNESCO World Heritage sites on the WHC websites. We welcome this historic decision,” a statement issued read.
