Union Health Ministry issues guidelines for Monkeypox

The Central Government has asked the states and UTs to prepare surveillance strategies to quickly identify cases and clusters of infections and the sources of infections as soon as possible.

The Union Health Ministry has issued guidelines for the control and diagnosis of the Monkeypox three weeks after the first confirmed case of the virus was discovered in the United Kingdom.

Over 600 confirmed cases of the disease have been reported in more than 30 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas. Currently there are no reported cases of Monkeypox in India.
