Union Minister Piyush Goyal appointed as India’s Sherpa for G-20 Summit

The G-20 Summit this year is scheduled to be held in October under the Italian presidency while India will be hosting the G20 summit for the very first time in 2023.

Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister for commerce and industry has been appointed as India’s Sherpa for the G-20. Goyal’s appointment to the position was announced in a news release by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday.

Goyal will be replacing Mr. Suresh Prabhu as India’s G-20 Sherpa. Along with being the Leader of the House at the Rajya Sabha, Piyush Goyal is also the minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles.
