R Praggnanandhaa, age 16, made history after defeating world chess champion Magnus Carlsen in the eighth round of the Airthings Masters, an online chess competition. Celebrities and opinion leaders from many walks of life have congratulated the youngster on winning the online rapid chess competition.

On Monday, Praggnanandhaa won a Tarrasch Variation game with black pieces in 39 moves. Magnus Carlsen's three-game winning streak in this tournament has come to an end thanks to this victory by India's grandmaster. After Abhimanyu Mishra, Gukesh D, Sergey Karjakin, and Javokhir Sindarovt, Praggnanandhaa is the fifth-youngest person to acquire the title of Grandmaster.
