India was granted the main Chess Olympiad and the Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities to be conducted this year by the International Chess Federation (FIDE). However, it has been confirmed that the 2022 Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities would not take place in the country.
As per reports, hosting the Olympiad for People with Disabilities would incur additional expenses to the All India Chess Federation (AICF). The AICF, which is already facing several issues, will be unable to take up this event. The main purpose of the change of location is to assist India in alleviating the AICF's financial and organizational strains.
