Prominent Indian architect Balkrishna Doshi was conferred with the Royal Gold Medal 2022, one of the world’s highest honours for architecture on Tuesday, May10 in Ahmedabad.

With this in his account, Doshi is the only Indian with few more global talents to collect both the Pritzker Architecture Prize and the Royal Medal. The latter is personally approved by Queen Elizabeth II and is awarded to individuals with significant impact in the advancement of architecture.

The 94-year-old could not travel to the UK amid covid-19 pandemic, so a team from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), led by their president, Architect Simon Allford, visited him in-person at his residence and infamous studio, Sangath in Ahmedabad.
