Elsa Marie D’Silva wins World Justice Challenge 2022

The World Justice Challenge is a global competition to identify, recognize and promote good practices and high-impact projects and policies that protect and advance the rule of law.

Mumbai-based Elsa Marie D’Silva, Indian gender activist, Founder and CEO of Red Dot Foundation, President of Red Dot Foundation Global was awarded the World Justice Challenge 2022. Developing an app for Equal Rights and Non-Discrimination to Safecity: A crowd map for sexual and gender-based violence. The price carried a cash award of $100,000 USD which got split by the winners.

D’Silva and her friends developed this platform in hopes of providing safer cities for women. This app was developed as a response to a tragedy that happened back in India in 2012, when a 23-year-old woman was brutally gang-raped on a bus in New Delhi.
