About 44 percent of India’s population got fully vaccinated by the end of 2021. After contracting seven percent in 2020, the economic output returned to pre-pandemic levels by the second quarter of 2021, with a full-year growth of eight percent.

The Indian economy has rebounded strongly despite three significant Covid-19 waves, the US Treasury said in a report to the Congress on Friday.

According to the semiannual report, India’s acute second wave weighed heavily on growth through the middle of 2021, delaying its economic recovery.
