Rich tributes paid to China’s late Indian classical dancer Zhang Jun

Zhang Jun had inspired generations of Chinese and Indian people. With her continuous persistence, she had learnt Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Odissi and made them popular in China.

Despite COVID lockdowns and other restrictions in Beijing, over 300 Chinese fans of classical dancer Zhang Jun gathered at the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) auditorium on Friday night to watch the riveting performances of young Chinese children as well as highly talented professionals who have devoted their lives practicing and performing Indian classical dance forms in China.

The audience included India’s Ambassador to China Pradeep Kumar Rawat and the former Chinese Vice Minister of Finance and President of Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank, Jin Liqun, who applauded the dancers’ performances to the Tamil and Hindi music.
