Droupadi Murmu takes oath as India’s 15th President

Ahead of her swearing-in ceremony, Murmu paid floral tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial in Raj Ghat. She also congratulates the armed forces for the Kargil Vijay Diwas.

President-elect Droupadi Murmu took the oath of office of the highest constitutional post of the country on July 25, followed by a 21-gun salute.

In morning the ceremony was held in Parliament's central hall, where Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana administered the oath of office to her. The President then gave the country her first address.

The outgoing President and the President-elect entered Parliament in a ceremonial procession prior to the ceremony.

In her first address, President Murmu said, "Your faith in me has given me strength. I have got this responsibility at such an important time as it is India's 75 year of Independence. I am also the first President to be born after India got its Independence."
