US funds top medical institutes in India to prevent epidemics

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Wednesday announced granting of US $122 million in funds to the top three medical institutions in India namely the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) New Delhi, National Institute of Virology (NIV) and National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE).

According to an official statement, the funds will be granted over a five year term to “accelerate progress toward an India safe and secure from infectious disease threats.”
