The Marine Corps has made the allowance only to a point. He got to put on the turban for the first time on Thursday. He can wear it while at normal duty stations, but can’t while deployed in a conflict zone

A 26-year-old Sikh-American in the US Marine Corps has been granted permission to wear the turban – the first individual in the elite corps’ 246-year history to do so – but only with a few restrictions, and he wants to sue the Corps if he is not given total convenience.

First Lieutenant Sukhbir Toor has worn the uniform of the United States Marine Corps practically every morning for the past five years. On Thursday, he’d also try on the turban of a devoted Sikh, according to the New York Times.
