In the 2017 election, BJP won 53 out of the total 58 seats in the region, with Bahujan Samajwadi Party and Samajwadi Party taking two seats each

In the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on Thursday, 58 of the 403 UP Assembly constituencies went to polls and 57.79 percent of voting was recorded till 5 pm.

The major districts included in the first phase are Mathura, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahar, Hapur, Shamli, Baghpat, Aligarh, Agra, and Gautam Buddha Nagar.
