The National Institutes of Health has awarded US$8.4 million to an Indian-American professor Dr. Manish Butte at the University of California, Los Angeles will head a team to study the phenomena of 'Valley Fever.'

Butte and his research team will study why some patients infected with Valley fever get a potentially lethal variant of the illness that destroys their bodies while the majority suffer relatively minor or no symptoms at all.
