WFP and India sign agreement to donate wheat to Kabul

With the harsh Afghan winter soon approaching WFP has been accumulating as much humanitarian relief material in different parts of the country, before roads covered in snow limit connectivity.

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Government of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to supply 10,000 mt of wheat to Afghanistan, that is facing a severe shortage of food accelerated by the recebt earthquake that struck yhe eastern part of the country in June.

As part of the agreement India will supply 50,000 mt of wheat, which will be the fifth and final part of its commitment of humanitarian food assistance for Afghanistan signed in 2020.
