WHO honors India’s ASHA volunteers

The World Health Organization on Sunday honored India’s Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) volunteers for their contributions in providing basic health care services to the rural population of India.

WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced the group of over a million government volunteers, as one of the six recipients of the World Health Organization Director-General’s Global Health Leaders Awards.
