India, the world's second-largest producer of sugar after Brazil, may file an appeal. The WTO has submitted 115 pages of the report in support of Brazil, Australia, and Guatemala. This is the sugar subsidy trade dispute with India.

A World Trade Organization panel recently ruled in favor of Brazil, Australia, and Guatemala in their trade dispute with India over sugar subsidies, ordering India to comply with global rules.

Rival producers claimed that India violated WTO rules by providing excessive domestic support and export subsidies for sugar and sugarcane in WTO cases filed in 2019.
